Whats the Best GPS for RC Speed Runs?

Welcome to my best RC GPS review for 2021.

After buying and testing 5 of the main GPS Speed meters with hours of testing and research and driving the same RC car up and down the road countless times, I’m ranking the 5 best GPS speed meters on the market based on accuracy, usability, durabilty and value for money.

Buying a decent GPS speed meter for your RC car speed runs really only comes down to 2 things: Your budget and required accuracy.

Let have a look at what I’ve concluded.

To cut to the chase, I’ve tried all of them and the following 2 are the best.

The Top 2 Products:

Whats the Best GPS for RC Speed Runs

This is the new GSM-015 Version of SkyRc’s GPS Speed Meter. It now supports GLONASS as well as GPS so it will find even more satellites to lock onto for improved positional accuracy.

Have you ever wondered the top speed of your model, or how high you flew? Well this neat little gadget for SkyRc will tell you just that. It uses a high precision GPS module to record speed, position and altitude in real time. The LCD screen will display average, current, and peak speed, as well as current and max altitude, total distance, and GPS coordinates (longitude/latitude). The unit also has a data logging function so that you can record the key data as GPS track, which can then be overlaid on Goggle Earth. The device only weighs 45g so it can be used on most models and you don’t have to worry about providing power it either. It has its own internal USB rechargeable battery, which lasts for 150minutes.

  • Speed meter with top speed memory
  • Track: Location, speed & altitude
  • Compact and lightweight for almost any RC application
  • Concurrent reception of GPS & GLONASS
  • GNSS Coordinator
  • Built-in 1M flash (recording time: 18 hours at 1Hz update frequency)
  • UTC timestamp logged for each track point
  • Built-in rechargeable, LiPo bettery 200mAh (Operating time: 150 minutes)
  • Support for both Metric and Imperial system of measurements
  • GNSS LOGGER software for data logging on Google Earth / Bing Maps
  • Firmware upgradable

How many times have you buddy mocked you were bragging your RC machine goes over 100-blah-blah mph? We’re betting too many times. Now there’s a way to prove your RC car or plane is the fastest on earth. The SkyRC GNSS Performance Analyzer allows you to measure and analyze many aspects of your RC car & airplane’s performance using the latest GNSS engine (GPS, GLONASS) and barometric air pressure sensor, all in a very compact unit which is self powered. Simply download the smartphone app, attach the Performance Analyzer to your model and you are ready to go! And it does so much more than just recording speed data, it also reports on Acceleration, G-force, Time, Distance, High and Vertical Speed measurements. To tell the truth before and after modifications.

Knowledge is power! By knowing the facts before and after modifications, your efforts will not be in vain. GNSS Performance Meter will help you make sense of the improvements and help you make educated decisions to make sure you’re not spinning your wheels. For everyone trying to gauge their performance, here’s an affordable way to do just that. Just got some new mods installed? Get some real feedback, really quickly. This is a professional-grade instrument accessible to enthusiasts.

Improved accuracy by tracking two satellite constellations

The GNSS Performance Analyzer supports GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) with GPS and GLONASS system that means more satellites. The advantage is improved positional accuracy by tracking two satellite constellations instead of just GPS.

Small but Versatile

GNSS Performance Analyzer (GSM020) allows you to measure and analyze many aspects of your RC car & airplane’s performance using the latest GNSS engine (GPS, GLONASS) which gives you Acceleration, G-force, Speed, Time, Distance, High and Vertical Velocity. With its compact dimension of 40mm x 40mm x 17mm and internal antenna, it is an ideal choice for mounting on RC vehicles & airplanes.

Peace of mind with built-in liPo battery

5 hours’ run-time on the built-in rechargeable LiPo battery can give enough racing time for the RC drivers or pilots in the field! With the micro USB charging port, it is very convenient to connect it to a USB port or another compatible USB power source for charging.

Visual LED indicator

The GNSS Analyzer is equipped with 3 LED indicators, signaling different operating modes. Open GNSS PA on the smartphone, the analyzer’s Bluetooth icon will stay steady blue, reflecting the device is connected; the satellite icon will stay steady green after a while of successful GNSS signal acquisition.

Built-in 1M Memory

The built-in 1M memory can record up to 50 records. And all the data can be transferred to the smartphone for analyzing! When the Flash is full, the previous record will be replaced automatically. Now you don’t have to think about clearing data all the time or worry about missing the critical tracking data when the memory is full.

Support both Metric and Imperial system of Measurement

The Metric and Imperial systems can be switched easily by the App!
